The fact that the time-gate has unlocked 109 hours after release, which is the same amount of time it took the dataminers to figure out Rebirth’s puzzle, seems to hint that this is personal. Apparently the developer was quite upset by this, and so he used a time-gate this time around. However, before the fans could do this, someone simply got into the code and solved it via hacking. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth had contained a community puzzle, which would unlock a special character once it was solved. The community is pretty upset over the whole thing though, even with all of the content now available. Unfortunately the mystery turned out to be not quite as exciting as fans had hoped, with the content simply be time-locked away, so that it would become available some time after launch. That time has come, with an update hitting that has unlocked everything fans had expected to be in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth. The developer assured fans that there was more there than they realized, with a bit of a hunt going on to figure out what could unlock everything. However, once players got their hands on the expansion, they found some of the promises not fulfilled. The DLC promised literally hundreds of hours of additional content for players to dive into and enjoy.
